Ranata came to the WIOA program as a single mother of three children who was working as a CNA. Although she enjoyed her work, she needed a career that would offer her sustainable wages to support her family. So, she enrolled into the WIOA Adult Program in Sampson County and began taking nursing courses at Sampson Community College.
A few months before Ranata was set to graduate, Ranata and her family were involved in a terrible car accident. Despite the pain and repeated doctor’s appointments following the wreck, Ranata did not allow that situation to deter her from meeting her education and career goals, and still managed to successfully complete all of her coursework in order to graduate.
Ranata earned an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Sampson Community College in May of 2017. She is currently employed as a Surgical Nurse at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton earning $27.25 an hour on 3rd shift.
On behalf of the Triangle South Workforce Development Board, and Two Hawk Workforce Services, it was our pleasure to present Ms. Ranata Daughtry with the Outstanding WIOA Adult Award at the TSWDB 6th Annual Awards Banquet on December 6th, 2017.
